Zelenskyy Says Russia Eyes More Drone Bases in Occupied Zones
(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned Monday that Russia is moving to broaden its network of long-range drone control stations across occupied Ukrainian territory, while simultaneously establishing four additional facilities in neighboring Belarus.
"We will respond accordingly," he wrote on X, the US-owned social media platform.
Drawing on intelligence findings presented by Ukraine's defense intelligence chief Oleh Ivashchenko, Zelenskyy further cautioned that Moscow routinely seeks to overstate battlefield gains and deliberately deploys "inflated data" as a lever in ongoing negotiations.
The warning comes amid a fragile and repeatedly disrupted diplomatic process — Russia and Ukraine have engaged in multiple rounds of US-brokered peace talks this year, though momentum stalled following the outbreak of the crisis in the Middle East.
