Israel Strikes Iranian Bases Using Decades-Old Munitions
(MENAFN) Reports indicate that the Israeli army has begun using imprecise munitions stored for nearly 50 years to target military bases in Iran.
This move is reportedly motivated by efforts to reduce costs and free up storage space, according to local media sources. The Israeli Defense Ministry did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Concerns are rising over the financial and material demands of the ongoing military campaign.
Military spending in Israel’s first 20 days of the conflict is estimated at around $6.4 billion, with daily expenditures averaging approximately $320 million.
Separately, the government allocated $825 million to acquire urgent security supplies amid reports of a growing deficit in interceptor missiles, and the army is reportedly preparing to request additional funding beyond the $12.5 billion originally allocated for the conflict.
US-Israeli airstrikes against Iran began on February 28, reportedly resulting in at least 1,300 deaths, including the former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran has retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US forces.
