Death Toll in Iran’s Capital Hits 636 Since US-Israeli War Outbreak
(MENAFN) The number of fatalities recorded in the Iranian capital has climbed to 636 since the outbreak of the US-Israeli military campaign, the city's top emergency official announced Monday.
Mohammad Esmail Tavakkoli, head of Tehran's emergency services, confirmed the figures to Iranian media, disclosing that an additional 6,846 residents had sustained injuries since hostilities commenced. He further noted that 430 sites across the city had been struck in the course of the conflict.
The war traces its origins to February 28, when coordinated US and Israeli strikes on Iranian territory first ignited the current wave of violence. Since then, the confrontation has intensified sharply, spreading its reach well beyond Iran's borders.
Tehran has answered the offensive with a sustained barrage of drone and missile attacks directed at Israel, as well as Gulf states where American military forces are stationed.
