U.S. CENTCOM Reports Striking Over 9,000 Targets in Iran
(MENAFN) The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Monday that American forces have struck more than 9,000 targets inside Iran — including dozens of naval vessels — since the launch of a sweeping military operation last month that has reshaped the region's security landscape.
A CENTCOM fact sheet revealed that the assault has damaged or destroyed upwards of 140 Iranian vessels, underscoring the extraordinary scale and pace of the campaign. The military confirmed it has deployed a broad arsenal across all domains, including strategic bombers, fighter aircraft, drones and missile defense systems.
The operation traces its origins to Feb. 28, when the US and Israel launched a coordinated strike on Iran — an assault that has since claimed more than 1,300 lives, among them then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
The human cost has not been one-sided. A total of 13 US service members have been killed and approximately 200 others wounded since hostilities commenced, CENTCOM confirmed.
Tehran has refused to absorb the strikes without response, retaliating with successive waves of drone and missile attacks directed at Israel and Gulf nations hosting US military personnel and assets.
Regional tensions show no sign of abating as both sides sustain mounting losses and the operation continues to expand in scope and intensity.
