Renee Goreham

Dr. Renee Goreham is an Associate Professor at the University of Newcastle and an interdisciplinary nanobiotechnology researcher developing advanced biosensing technologies for early disease detection. After completing her PhD in 2014 and building an international research career, she now leads a program focused on nanomaterials, extracellular vesicles, and translational diagnostics.
A passionate advocate for science communication and diversity in STEM, Dr. Goreham was selected as a Superstars in STEM recipient for 2025 and 2026, championing outreach across regional Australia, media engagement, and programs that inspire young people (especially women) to pursue science. Her public impact has also been recognised with a Women in Research Fellowship, the Port Stephens Council International Women's Day Scholarship, and the AIP NSW Community Outreach Award in Physics.
