CAIRO, March 20 (NNN-dpa) – Police in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) said on Friday that they had arrested 109 people of different nationalities for filming and posting“false” information online amid the ongoing war in the Middle East.
The arrests were announced by the police in Abu Dhabi, the UAE capital, who said the suspects had filmed sites and events, and circulated“false” information on social media.”This is something that could stir up public opinion and spread rumours among members of society,” the police added in a post on X without providing details.
Iran has repeatedly attacked Gulf nations in retaliation for the Israeli-US bombing campaign that started in late February.
The UAE has borne the brunt of the Iranian attacks with the Gulf state reporting it has intercepted a total of 338 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,740 drones up until Friday.
UAE authorities said the Iranian attacks killed two army personnel and six foreign nationals in the country.
