Drones Hit Two Oil Refineries in Kuwait
(MENAFN) Kuwait Petroleum Corporation announced on Thursday that two separate drone strikes targeted operational facilities at major oil refineries in the country, causing limited fires but no reported injuries.
In a statement reported by the official news agency, the corporation said a drone struck an operational unit at the Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery, which is operated by Kuwait National Petroleum Company, resulting in a localized fire.
It added that relevant authorities quickly began implementing the necessary procedures to manage the situation and maintain safe operations at the refinery.
In a separate incident, another drone reportedly hit an operational unit at the Mina Abdullah Refinery, also operated by Kuwait National Petroleum Company, leading to a fire at that location.
The corporation stated that all precautionary measures were taken to protect workers and secure the facilities.
According to reports from the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), six firefighting teams were deployed to respond to the fires, and both incidents were successfully brought under control. No casualties were reported in either case.
These attacks come after a series of recent incidents in Kuwait. In the past few days, authorities have reported intercepting incoming missiles and drones aimed at military installations, with no resulting injuries.
Iran has stated that its operations are directed at what it considers US military assets and interests in the region, as part of the broader escalation linked to the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
