NATO Deploys Additional Patriot System to Southern Turkey

(MENAFN) The Turkish Defense Ministry confirmed Wednesday that an additional Patriot missile system, sent by NATO Allied Air Command based in Ramstein, Germany, has been stationed in Adana province in southern Türkiye. The new deployment joins the existing Spanish Patriot battery already in place.

Rear Adm. Zeki Akturk, spokesperson for the ministry, made the announcement during a press briefing at the 10th Main Jet Base Command in Incirlik, Adana. He emphasized that the deployment is part of broader security measures designed to protect Türkiye’s airspace and citizens.

Akturk added that the arrival of the NATO battery comes “in addition to the measures taken at the national level to ensure the security of our airspace and citizens,” highlighting Türkiye’s coordinated approach with allied forces to maintain regional stability.

Officials note that this deployment reflects ongoing NATO efforts to strengthen defensive capabilities in the region amid heightened geopolitical tensions and to ensure rapid response to potential aerial threats.
