Nigerian President Bola Tinubu Begins Historic Visit to Britain

(MENAFN) Nigerian President Bola Tinubu will embark on a landmark visit to Britain on Tuesday, marking the first state visit by a leader of Africa’s most populous nation in 37 years, according to reports.

During the two-day trip, Tinubu and his wife are scheduled to be received at Windsor Castle on Wednesday and Thursday at the invitation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. He will also become the first Nigerian leader to meet a British monarch at Windsor Castle, as stated by reports.

Officials said the visit aims “to strengthen bilateral relations and explore avenues for collaboration on issues such as immigration, trade, investment and cultural exchange.”

At Windsor Castle, Tinubu and the monarchs will tour a Royal Collection exhibition on Nigeria, hold private discussions, and meet with interfaith organizations. The Nigerian president is also scheduled to meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street.

The visit is expected to further deepen ties between Nigeria and Britain and conclude with agreements covering trade, investment, defense, and cultural cooperation, according to reports.
