Saudi Arabia Downs Dozens of Drones
(MENAFN) Saudi authorities reported on Monday that air defense systems successfully shot down and eliminated 61 additional unmanned aerial vehicles in the nation’s Eastern Region.
The announcement was delivered by the Saudi Defense Ministry through several posts published on the social media platform X, owned by the US-based company X, beginning early Monday.
This development follows the joint military strikes launched by Israel and the United States against Iran on Feb. 28. The attacks have reportedly resulted in the deaths of nearly 1,300 individuals, among them Iran’s then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Since that time, tensions in the region have intensified.
In response, Iran has carried out counterattacks using drones and missiles aimed at Israel, Jordan, Iraq, as well as Gulf states that host American military installations.
