Tehran Insists on Victory, Denies Ceasefire Talks with Washington
(MENAFN) Iran anticipates “celebrating victory” in the ongoing conflict with the US and Israel, the nation’s foreign minister stated on Monday, dismissing claims that Tehran is seeking a ceasefire.
“We are engaged in a proud resistance and will continue our resistance without doubt,” Abbas Araghchi said in statements carried by reports.
He added, “In the coming days, we will celebrate our victory in this war.”
The senior diplomat also denied that Iran has sent any messages requesting a pause in the hostilities. “We have sent no messages and have not requested a ceasefire,” he emphasized.
Araghchi further highlighted the status of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for oil shipping, saying it “is open, and only closed to the enemies.”
“This war must end in a way that enemies no longer think of invading Iran and attacks are not repeated,” he stressed.
The US and Israel have maintained coordinated attacks on Iran since February 28, resulting in roughly 1,300 deaths so far, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In retaliation, Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes aimed at Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations, claiming these actions target “US military assets.”
