Israel Launches Broad Airstrike Campaign Across Iran
(MENAFN) The Israeli military announced on Monday that it has initiated a “wide-scale” series of aerial attacks throughout Iran. According to the army, the operation marks a major expansion of Israel’s military actions in the region.
In an official statement, the military asserted that the strikes focused on regime-related infrastructure located in the capital city, Tehran, as well as in Shiraz and the western city of Tabriz. Authorities did not disclose specific information about the exact facilities hit.
The statement also offered no clarification regarding the nature of the targets that were struck, nor did it provide figures concerning potential damage or casualties resulting from the bombardments.
Tensions across the region have intensified since Israel and the United States carried out coordinated assaults on Iran beginning Feb. 28. Those attacks have reportedly resulted in the deaths of about 1,300 individuals so far, among them the then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In response, Tehran has conducted retaliatory operations using drones and missiles aimed at Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and several Gulf states. Iranian officials say these strikes are directed at “US military assets.”
