IRGC Reports Attacks on Three US Military Bases with Missiles, Drones
(MENAFN) Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced Sunday that it had launched missile and drone strikes against three American military bases in the region, according to statements cited by reports.
The announcement, carried by reports citing Iran’s semi-official news sources, said the strikes targeted facilities used by US forces. Among the locations mentioned was the Al-Harir Air Base in Erbil, which the statement described as a “gathering center of US forces.” It further claimed that the Ali Al Salem Air Base and Camp Arifjan were destroyed using what it called powerful Iranian missiles and drones.
According to the statement, the attacks represented the 52nd phase of what Iran has called “Operation True Promise 4.” The IRGC described the campaign as retaliation for the deaths of workers in industrial areas inside Iran.
The statement also issued a warning directed at Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister, declaring that if he is “still alive, we will continue pursuing and killing him with full force.”
Earlier, officials from the Israeli prime minister’s office dismissed online claims suggesting Netanyahu had been killed during Iran’s retaliation to recent US and Israeli attacks. According to reports, the office described those allegations circulating on social media as “fake news” and stated that the prime minister was “fine.”
Meanwhile, reports indicated that following the latest ballistic missile strike launched by Iran, two individuals sustained minor injuries in the city of Holon in central Israel.
Regional tensions have sharply escalated since the United States and Israel carried out coordinated strikes against Iran on Feb. 28, according to reports. Iranian authorities say those attacks have killed at least 1,300 people, including the country’s then-supreme leader Ali Khamenei.
In response, Tehran has launched retaliatory drone and missile operations aimed at Israel as well as countries such as Jordan and Iraq, along with several Gulf states that host American military installations. The ongoing exchanges have resulted in casualties, damage to infrastructure, and disruptions affecting global markets and aviation, according to reports.
