Israel Confirms Iranian Missile Launches, Air Defenses Activated

(MENAFN) The military of Israel announced on Sunday that it had identified a new wave of missile launches originating from Iran, with interception systems immediately activated to counter the incoming threats.

In an official statement, the armed forces confirmed the detection of the launches and indicated that defensive measures were underway to stop the missiles before they could reach Israeli territory.

“The IDF (military) identified that a short while ago, missiles were launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel,” it said. “The defense systems are operating to intercept the threat.”

The military also shared a message through the social media platform X, urging residents to comply with safety instructions. Authorities advised people to enter designated shelters once warning sirens or alerts are issued and remain there until further guidance is provided.

Tensions across the region have intensified following coordinated strikes carried out by Israel and the United States against targets inside Iran on Feb. 28, according to reports. Iranian officials say the attacks have so far resulted in roughly 1,300 deaths and left more than 10,000 individuals injured.

In response, Tehran has launched retaliatory drone and missile attacks aimed at Israel as well as several countries in the region, including Jordan and Iraq, along with Gulf states that host American military installations.
