FBI Issues Warning of Potential Iranian Drone Threat off US West Coast

(MENAFN) The FBI has alerted California authorities about a possible threat from Iran involving drone attacks launched from an unidentified vessel off the West Coast, according to reports. Local officials, however, have questioned the validity of the warning, describing it as unverified.

The memo, which circulated among California departments in recent days, indicated that in early February, Iran “allegedly aspired to conduct a surprise attack using unmanned aerial vehicles from an unidentified vessel off the coast of the United State Homeland, specifically against unspecified targets in California” in the event of a US strike against the country. The bulletin noted that authorities “have no additional information on the timing, method, target, or perpetrators of this alleged attack.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom responded, emphasizing ongoing coordination with security and intelligence agencies regarding potential threats linked to the Middle East conflict. “While we are not aware of any imminent threats at this time, we remain prepared for any emergency in our state,” he wrote on X.
