Bahrain Confirms Targeting of Fuel Storage Facility Amid Rising Tensions

(MENAFN) Bahrain’s Interior Ministry reported early Thursday that a facility in Muharraq governorate came under attack, targeting fuel storage tanks, with Iranian involvement suspected, according to reports. Authorities have initiated measures to secure the site and manage the incident.

The attack occurred amid a broader wave of assaults on energy infrastructure across the region, as escalating tensions in the Middle East continue.

Since joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran began on Feb. 28, energy markets worldwide have faced significant disruption, with attacks on both maritime and land-based oil facilities raising concerns over supply security.

Experts note that energy infrastructure is a strategic target in regional conflicts due to its economic and geopolitical significance. Much of the region’s oil production and storage is concentrated in the Arabian Gulf, a vital corridor through which a substantial portion of global oil exports is transported.

Critical maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz and the Arabian Sea, remain highly sensitive, and any security threats in these waterways can directly impact global energy markets and oil prices.
