Iranian President Vows to Protect National Territory Against “Enemies”
(MENAFN) Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian affirmed on Sunday that the nation will not allow any “enemies” to occupy even a single inch of its territory, as stated by reports.
Pezeshkian made the remarks during a meeting with Health Minister Mohammad-Reza Zafarghandi in Tehran while explaining Iran’s stance on the ongoing U.S. and Israeli military operations. He clarified that comments he made on Saturday—apologizing to neighboring countries and pledging that attacks against them would cease—had been misinterpreted.
“Enemies” had allegedly twisted his statements in an attempt to create discord between Iran and its neighbors, he said.
He stressed that Iran has consistently maintained “good and brotherly” relations with neighboring countries. Pezeshkian added that if the United States or Israel conducts attacks from foreign territories, Iran would respond, but such retaliation does not signify disputes with those countries or their people. “We are concerned about the dear peoples who have been affected by the regional tensions, and we apologize to them,” he said.
Despite current challenges, he asserted that Iranians will stand united against their enemies and “will not allow them to seize even a single inch of our country's soil.”
The ongoing conflict began on February 28, when Israel and the United States launched joint strikes on Tehran and several other cities, reportedly killing Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei along with senior military officials and civilians. Iran responded with multiple waves of missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. and Israeli bases in the Middle East.
The hostilities have had broader regional consequences, raising concerns over disruptions to oil exports and global energy markets. In a social media post on X, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned that continued fighting could significantly disrupt oil production and shipments in the West Asia region.
