Ukraine, Russia Exchange Overnight Attacks
(MENAFN) Ukraine and Russia accused each other on Saturday of conducting overnight air raids that resulted in the deaths of 10 individuals and injuries to another 10 in Ukrainian territory, while one person was reportedly hurt in Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia launched "29 missiles and 480 drones," the majority being Shahed types, against Ukraine during the night.
In a statement from Ukraine’s Air Defense Ministry, it was reported that "19 missiles and 453 drones were shot down" before reaching their targets.
The assault destroyed a residential building in the city of Kharkiv, killing seven people and wounding 10 others, including children, Zelenskyy reported. He added that some victims might still be trapped beneath the debris.
Later, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov noted on Telegram that "three more bodies have been found under the rubble of a house," intensifying the toll of the attack.
Zelenskyy also indicated on US social media platform X that Russia struck energy infrastructure in Kyiv, the Khmelnytskyi and Chernivtsi regions, and railways in the Zhytomyr region, with additional damage recorded in the Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Vinnytsia, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, and Cherkasy regions.
Ukraine’s Energy Ministry reported that this was "the fifth massive missile and drone attack" on the country’s power facilities since the start of the year, resulting in electricity outages across seven regions: Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Khmelnytskyi, Poltava, and Kharkiv.
