Rubio Says US-Israeli Conflict with Iran Could Last “Several More Weeks”
(MENAFN) U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio reportedly told Arab foreign ministers that the ongoing military campaign against Iran could extend for “several more weeks,” emphasizing that Washington is not pursuing “regime change,” according to reports on Friday.
Sources familiar with the discussions indicated that Rubio made these remarks during phone calls on Thursday with a number of Arab foreign ministers.
According to the report, Rubio stated that the U.S. military is primarily targeting Iran’s missile launchers, weapons stockpiles, and related production facilities.
Rubio also reportedly emphasized that the administration’s objective does not involve overthrowing the Iranian government, while simultaneously suggesting that “Washington wants different people running the country.”
He added that there is currently no engagement between the United States and Tehran, asserting that any dialogue at this stage could compromise ongoing military operations.
