Trump Says US Airstrikes on Iran “Going Very Well”
(MENAFN) U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday that American military operations against Iran are progressing successfully, asserting that Tehran’s military strength has been largely dismantled.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump expressed confidence in the outcome of the ongoing campaign.
“In Iran, we're doing very well. How would you score it from zero to 10? I said I'd give it a 12 to a 15,” Trump told reporters at the White House.
The president claimed that Iranian naval forces and communications infrastructure had been destroyed, while several tiers of the country’s leadership had also been eliminated.
“Their navy is gone. Their communications are gone. Their leaders are gone. Two sets of their leaders are gone. They're down to their third set,” he said.
Trump further alleged that Iran’s air force had been completely neutralized.
“Think of it. They had 32 ships. All 32 are at the bottom of the ocean.”
His remarks came as tensions continue to intensify across the Middle East following the start of coordinated airstrikes by the United States and Israel on Feb. 28 targeting sites in Iran.
Reports indicate that the strikes have resulted in more than 1,000 deaths, including Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei, over 150 schoolgirls, and several senior military commanders.
In response, Iran has launched waves of drone and missile attacks directed at locations linked to the United States throughout the region. One such strike in Kuwait reportedly killed six American service members at a tactical operations center.
