Japan’s PM Plans Talks with Trump on US-Israel Strikes in Iran

(MENAFN) Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi announced Tuesday that she intends to hold “candid talks” with US President Donald Trump regarding the recent US and Israeli strikes on Iran.

Takaichi is scheduled to travel to Washington later this month for a summit with Trump.

Addressing parliament, she said her government could not yet provide a legal assessment and refrained from commenting on whether the strikes violated international law.

Since Saturday, the joint US-Israeli offensive has killed several senior Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Tehran retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting US-linked sites across Gulf nations, resulting in the deaths of six US service members and serious injuries to several others.

According to the Iranian Red Crescent, the death toll from the US and Israeli strikes since Saturday has risen to 787.
