Bahrain, Qatar Intercept Almost Two Hundred Iranian Missiles
(MENAFN) Bahrain and Qatar announced Tuesday that their air defense systems intercepted and destroyed more than 170 missiles and dozens of drones launched from Iran over the past three days. The attacks are part of Tehran’s response to the ongoing US-Israeli military campaign in the region.
Bahrain’s Defense Force said its air defenses shot down 70 missiles and 76 drones since Saturday. In a statement, the military condemned what it described as continued Iranian attacks targeting various areas of the kingdom, noting that the strikes caused material damage to civilian property and infrastructure. Officials characterized the targeting of civilian areas as a violation of international humanitarian law and the UN Charter, reaffirming Bahrain’s right to defend its sovereignty.
The Interior Ministry advised residents early Tuesday to seek shelter after air raid sirens sounded. Regional media reported that Iranian aerial threats were intercepted over the capital, Manama, where explosions were heard.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Defense Ministry stated that since the escalation began, it had detected and intercepted three cruise missiles, 101 ballistic missiles, and 39 suicide drones heading toward its airspace.
