Ukraine Receives Initial Funding from IMF Under New Aid Program
(MENAFN) Ukraine has obtained its first $1.5 billion installment from the International Monetary Fund, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced on Tuesday.
According to her statement, the payment comes under a newly approved four-year arrangement within the Extended Fund Facility, which totals $8.1 billion.
“The funds have already been credited and will be used to finance priority budget expenditures and support macrofinancial stability,” she said, noting that IMF assistance to Ukraine has reached $14.9 billion since the start of the Moscow-Kyiv war in February 2022.
Expressing appreciation for international backing, Svyrydenko added, “I am grateful to our partners for their trust and support. We continue to implement agreed reforms aimed at maintaining macroeconomic stability, strengthening state institutions, and promoting European integration.”
