Israel Launches Strikes on Iran State TV HQ in Tehran
(MENAFN) The Israeli army confirmed early Tuesday it had carried out targeted strikes on the compound housing Iran's state broadcaster in Tehran, the latest salvo in an intensifying air campaign against the capital's critical infrastructure.
In an official statement, the Israeli military said air force jets, operating on intelligence guidance, dropped dozens of munitions on the facility, destroying what the army characterized as a communications center within the compound. The military warned it would press forward, vowing to continue striking infrastructure belonging to "the Iranian regime" across Tehran.
Iranian media reported two successive explosions near the broadcaster's complex, with witnesses describing smoke rising visibly from the area.
Despite the scale of the assault, the head of Iran's state broadcaster said broadcast operations had not been disrupted and that there were no reports of fatalities or injuries at the site.
The strike on the media compound forms part of a broader and accelerating Israeli air offensive that has already claimed the lives of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and multiple senior Iranian military officials since Saturday. The confirmed death toll from US and Israeli strikes has reached 787, according to the Iranian Red Crescent.
Tehran has responded with retaliatory drone and missile barrages targeting Israel and US-linked installations across Gulf states, killing six American service members and wounding several others.
