Russia Warns World War III Could Erupt
(MENAFN) Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, warned on Monday that World War III could begin if US President Donald Trump continues what he called an “insane course” of regime-change operations. In an interview with the Russian news agency Tass, Medvedev described Washington’s actions as a war by the US and its allies to maintain global dominance.
He said any event could trigger a global conflict, noting that the vulnerability of US and Israeli officials has increased since Iran declared a holy war. Medvedev added that although Iran has not yet responded with full force, the country’s long history and patience make it a formidable actor.
Medvedev criticized Trump’s decision to target Iranian leaders, calling it a grave mistake that put all Americans at potential risk. He also highlighted that the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was a spiritual figure for nearly 300 million Shiites, and that his death could drive Iran to intensify efforts to develop nuclear weapons.
Regarding Iran’s ability to withstand the confrontation, Medvedev said the country will survive but at a high cost, requiring strong societal unity—a unity he claims the US helped foster. He also criticized European countries’ responses to the US-Israeli actions, calling them “toadyism and vileness.”
