Zelenskyy Says Trilateral Ukraine Peace Talks Still on

(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared Monday that landmark trilateral peace negotiations involving Ukraine, the United States, and Russia remain on track, even as escalating military turmoil in the Gulf region casts uncertainty over the planned venue in Abu Dhabi.

The announcement comes amid mounting regional instability following U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran, which has since launched retaliatory drone and missile attacks across the Gulf, raising concerns about the safety of holding high-stakes diplomacy in the UAE capital.

Addressing journalists, Zelenskyy stopped short of confirming Abu Dhabi as the definitive location but was unequivocal that the summit itself remains firmly scheduled.

"Due to the current military conflict, we cannot confirm that the meeting will take place in Abu Dhabi, but nonetheless, no one has cancelled it. The meeting must take place; it is important to us. We support this meeting," Zelenskyy said.

Should security conditions render Abu Dhabi untenable, the Ukrainian leader indicated that previously used diplomatic venues stand ready as alternatives.

"If there are difficulties with Abu Dhabi due to missiles and drones, then I think we have Türkiye, we have Switzerland - venues that have already worked and allowed us all to meet. We will definitely support any of these three venues for the meeting. We are waiting for a response from our partners," Zelenskyy said.

Kyiv expects the negotiations to take place between March 5–8, with March 5–6 identified as the most probable window. Moscow has yet to issue any official response to Zelenskyy's statements.

The forthcoming round would mark the fourth such engagement between the three parties. Prior sessions were held on Jan. 23–24 and Feb. 4–5 in Abu Dhabi, followed by a third round in Geneva on Feb. 17–18.
