Russia Says It Struck Energy Facilities Supporting Ukraine's Military

(MENAFN) Russian forces carried out strikes on energy infrastructure linked to Ukraine's military operations, along with more than 140 troop deployment sites housing Ukrainian soldiers and foreign mercenaries, Russia's Defense Ministry announced Sunday.

Moscow also reported that its air defense units intercepted nine guided aerial bombs, four U.S.-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system projectiles, and 220 fixed-wing drones within a single 24-hour period — underscoring the intensifying aerial exchange along the front lines.

The ministry further disclosed that Russian troops seized four settlements over the preceding week: Grafskoye in the Kharkiv region, Karpovka in the Donetsk region, Krasnoznamyenka in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and Rizdvyanka in the Zaporizhzhia region — a string of territorial gains spanning multiple contested oblasts.

Kyiv has not yet issued an immediate response to the claims. Russia regularly publishes battlefield updates through its defense ministry, though independent verification of such figures remains difficult amid ongoing hostilities.
