Gulf States Consider Response to Iranian Missile

(MENAFN) The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) announced on Sunday that it is evaluating potential measures in reaction to Iranian missile and drone attacks that targeted multiple member countries, emphasizing that it will take all necessary steps to safeguard regional security and stability.

Following an emergency virtual ministerial session, the council condemned the assaults on the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, and Kuwait, labeling them as violations of sovereignty and breaches of international law.

The GCC stressed that the security of its member states is indivisible, warning that any attack on a single country represents a direct threat to all under the bloc’s collective defense agreement. It also highlighted that member states maintain the right to defend themselves under Article 51 of the UN Charter and called for an immediate cessation of the attacks, urging the UN Security Council to act decisively to prevent further escalation.
