Syria's Leader Holds Phone Talks with UAE, Kuwaiti, KDP Leaders

(MENAFN) Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa conducted a round of high-level phone diplomacy on Sunday, reaching out to the leaders of the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and the Kurdistan Democratic Party as the regional fallout from Iran's retaliatory strikes against US-Israeli military action continued to reverberate.

According to the Syrian Presidency, al-Sharaa held separate calls with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, and KDP leader Masoud Barzani — conversations relayed through posts on X.

In his exchange with Sheikh Mohammed, al-Sharaa expressed Syria's firm solidarity with the UAE in the wake of the attacks, reaffirming Damascus' unambiguous opposition to any threats against the sovereignty, stability, and security of Arab nations. Sheikh Mohammed responded warmly, conveying his deep appreciation for Syria's backing of the UAE and fellow Arab states during the crisis.

Turning to his call with Kuwaiti Emir al-Sabah, al-Sharaa stressed the urgency of strengthening coordinated Arab action during the current period of heightened tension, underscoring that dialogue and diplomacy remain the strategic path toward political resolution and regional de-escalation. Al-Sabah expressed appreciation for Syria's principled stance in support of Kuwaiti sovereignty and the broader Arab world.

In a third conversation, al-Sharaa and KDP leader Barzani assessed the mounting regional tensions together, weighing their potential consequences for security and stability across the wider region.
