Saudi Airlines Suspends Flights Amid Escalating Iran-Israel Conflict

(MENAFN) Saudi Airlines announced on Saturday the temporary cancellation of several flights, citing security and safety concerns linked to the ongoing escalation between Iran and Israel. Passengers were advised to check the status of their flights before traveling to the airport.

Meanwhile, flight tracking reports indicated that Muscat International Airport in Oman was temporarily closed. The measures follow precautionary airspace restrictions imposed by several countries in the region, including the UAE, Syria, Kuwait, Qatar, and Iraq, amid rising tensions.

The developments come after Israel launched a so-called “preemptive” attack against Iran early Saturday under the operation name “Lion’s Roar,” declaring a “special and immediate” state of emergency across the country. US President Donald Trump later stated that American forces had initiated “major combat operations” in Iran aimed at “protecting the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime.”

These attacks occurred while diplomatic talks between Washington and Tehran over Iran’s nuclear program, mediated by Oman, were ongoing. The latest round of negotiations in Geneva concluded on Thursday. Last June, the US carried out strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites during the 12-day Israel-Iran conflict.
