Erdogan, Trump Confer on Middle East Developments

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke with US President Donald Trump in a phone call to address recent developments in the region, including military actions targeting Iran, as stated by reports.

“The latest situation and current developments in Iran and the Gulf countries,” were discussed by the two leaders, Turkish Communications Director Burhanettin Duran wrote on social media.

The conversation took place amid rising regional tensions, with Ankara actively engaging in diplomatic efforts to reduce escalation and promote dialogue across the Middle East.

Developments involving Iran and neighboring Gulf nations have triggered concern internationally.

According to reports, US and Israeli forces launched attacks on Tehran early Saturday, during ongoing negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program that were being mediated by Oman. The latest round of talks in Geneva concluded on Thursday.

Reports also note that last June, the US carried out strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites during a 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran.
