Longtime KT Reader Wins Diamond Necklace In Subscription Raffle Day After Kid's Birthday

A Khaleej Times subscription turned into a delightful surprise for one longtime reader this year. Dr Vinu George Abraham was announced as the winner of a diamond necklace, just a day after celebrating his daughter's ninth birthday. His name was drawn in an exclusive raffle for KT subscribers, held in partnership with Joy Alukkas.

“It is a very unexpected win for us,” he said, as he visited the Khaleej Times office in Al Quoz to receive his prize.“We have been subscribers of the newspaper since 2019, and this is the first time we have won something like this. I know that my daughter will be very excited to see this beautiful necklace.”

Dr Vinu, who works as an Internal Medicine specialist in Abu Dhabi, had driven to Dubai along with his wife to collect the prize from KT Chief Content Officer Ted Kemp.“We finished our morning shift at noon and came here,” he said, adding that his wife is a gynaecologist.“By 5.30, we have to be back in Abu Dhabi to start our second shift of the day. But this was a special moment that we did not want to miss.”

As someone who grew up in the UAE, he said he was familiar with the Khaleej Times brand and it was a natural choice for him when he moved back to Abu Dhabi in 2019.“While growing up, I remember reading the newspaper,” he said.“So, once I completed my studies and moved back here, I opted to subscribe to it. Now, even my daughter reads it.”

Dr Vinu won the first of a total of five diamond necklaces that are up for grabs for Khaleej Times subscribers, in partnership with Joy Alukkas. One raffle draw will be conducted every month, giving subscribers multiple chances to win. One lucky person stands a chance to win the grand prize of a Lynk & Co car in the final draw. The next two raffle draw dates are scheduled for March 2 and April 17.
