Next Phase of US, Iran Nuclear Talks to Take Place in Geneva
(MENAFN) The United States and Iran will meet in Geneva this Thursday for a new round of nuclear negotiations, confirmed Badr Albusaidi. He described the talks as a “positive push to go the extra mile towards finalizing the deal.”
Diplomacy between Washington and Tehran resumed earlier this month in Muscat, and Geneva will host the second round. Oman has been mediating indirect contacts between the two sides in recent months.
US officials, speaking to Axios, indicated that another meeting in Geneva will proceed only if Iran submits a detailed nuclear proposal within the next two days. Such a submission could enable “detailed negotiations” toward a nuclear agreement and may allow for an interim deal before a comprehensive accord.
Abbas Araghchi told CBS that Iran’s proposal is still being finalized to address both sides’ concerns, and while leadership approval is pending, he remains confident progress will be made in Geneva.
Senior US officials cautioned that this diplomatic window might be the last chance before Washington could authorize a large-scale joint military operation with Israel, potentially targeting Ali Khamenei directly.
