Policeman Gets Killed, Two Harmed in Explosion in Moscow

(MENAFN) A policeman was killed and two others injured after an explosion outside the Savyolovsky railway station in Moscow on Tuesday, Russian authorities reported. The country’s Interior Ministry confirmed that one officer sustained fatal injuries.

The Russian Investigative Committee said the attacker also died in the explosion. Preliminary reports indicate that the man approached three State Traffic Safety Inspectorate officers on duty at Savyolovsky Railway Station Square before detonating an explosive device.

Authorities have launched a criminal investigation under charges of assault on a law enforcement officer and illegal trafficking of explosives. Forensic examinations, including genetic, medical, and explosives analyses, are ongoing to identify the perpetrator and determine the circumstances of the attack.

Separately, a staircase collapsed at Moscow’s Kyiv railway station. Early reports suggest no casualties, and a special commission has been set up to investigate the cause.
