Ten Skiers Go Missing in California
(MENAFN) Up to 10 skiers were reported missing amid heavy snowfall after an avalanche swept across a backcountry slope in California’s Sierra Nevada on Tuesday, authorities stated.
At least six skiers survived the avalanche and stayed at the location, according to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office.
The group, which included four guides and 12 clients, was located in the Castle Peak region near Truckee when the avalanche occurred.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing as officials continue efforts to locate those still missing.
