NATO Says Turkey is Valued Contributor to Shared Security
(MENAFN) NATO has praised Türkiye as a steadfast ally and a significant contributor to collective security, spokesperson Allison Hart stated Tuesday.
In a written message to Anadolu Agency commemorating Türkiye’s NATO accession anniversary, Hart highlighted Ankara’s longstanding support for the alliance. “As we look forward to the next NATO Summit in Ankara in July, we are reminded today of the many ways in which Türkiye contributes to the Alliance, as it has done for 74 years since joining NATO,” she said.
Hart underscored Türkiye’s military strength, noting it has NATO’s second-largest army, and emphasized the country’s “steady investment in defense,” “robust defense industry,” and “consistent contributions to NATO missions, activities and exercises.”
Türkiye joined NATO on February 18, 1952, three years after the alliance’s founding in 1949. Over the decades, the country has leveraged its strategic location to play a pivotal role in confronting regional threats, particularly in counterterrorism operations, making sustained contributions to the alliance’s security objectives.
