Police Detain 'Bomber' Who Falsely Reported Bomb Threat At Verkhovna Rada


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in the Lviv region stated this on its website, Ukrinform reports.

According to the statement, on February 16 police received a call from an unidentified man in Lviv claiming that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine had been mined. Law enforcement officers established that the report was false.

Police identified the caller as a 20-year-old resident of Lviv. He was detained and served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Knowingly false report of a threat to the safety of citizens, destruction or damage to property). The article provides for a punishment of imprisonment for a term of four to eight years.

A pre-trial investigation is currently underway.

As previously reported, a court placed under arrest a suspect who falsely reported a bomb threat in the Kyiv metro.
