Belarus Supports Russia’s Call to Unite Sanctioned Countries
(MENAFN) Alexander Lukashenko voiced support on Tuesday for a Russian proposal aimed at bringing together countries that are currently under international sanctions, according to state media reports.
Speaking during a government session, Lukashenko said that Russia’s Foreign Ministry had contacted him in his role as chairman of the Supreme State Council to discuss the possibility of forming a coordinated bloc of sanctioned nations. He explained that the initiative seeks to “somehow unite all those under sanctions.”
"We've also convinced China. They don't need persuasion; they understand they'll be next," he added.
The Belarusian leader noted that around 50 countries are presently subject to direct sanctions, with what he described as “hundreds of states” experiencing indirect consequences.
"If we unite and reach an agreement, those who imposed sanctions against us will be afraid," the Belarusian leader asserted.
