Rubio States Increased US Army Presence in Mideast is Defensive
(MENAFN) US Secretary of State Marco Rubio clarified on Sunday that the recent increase in American military forces in the Middle East is meant to protect US personnel from potential threats, not to indicate an imminent strike against Iran. Speaking alongside Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, Rubio emphasized that the deployments ensure “sufficient capacity to defend them, if, God forbid, that were to happen.”
Rubio also stressed that President Donald Trump favors diplomacy and seeks a negotiated settlement with Tehran rather than unilateral military action.
