Jordan, Qatar Denounces Israel’s West Bank Registration Plan

(MENAFN) Jordan and Qatar strongly criticized Israel’s decision to register large areas of the occupied West Bank as “state property,” calling the move a flagrant violation of international law and an attempt to annex Palestinian territory. Both countries warned that the plan undermines the rights of the Palestinian people and could destabilize the region.

The Jordanian Foreign Ministry said the decision “undermines the Palestinian people’s inalienable right to self-determination, ending the occupation and establishing an independent, sovereign state on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.” It emphasized that Israel has no sovereignty over the West Bank and that imposing its laws there constitutes a clear breach of international law. Jordan urged the international community to compel Israel to halt dangerous unilateral measures in the occupied territories, stressing that respecting Palestinian rights is key to achieving lasting peace and regional stability.

Similarly, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry denounced the Israeli move as part of an unlawful plan to deprive Palestinians of their rights, calling on the international community to apply pressure on Israel to stop implementing the decision to avoid “serious consequences.”

The UN and most countries consider the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, to be occupied territory, and Israeli settlements there are widely regarded as illegal under international law.
