Ukraine Delegation Heads to Geneva for Talks with Russia, U.S.

(MENAFN) Ukraine's chief negotiator confirmed Monday that the delegation has embarked on a journey to Geneva, where high-stakes peace discussions with Russia mediated by the United States are slated for February 17-18.

Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine's presidential office, shared an image on Telegram depicting himself alongside two fellow delegation members positioned before a train carriage as they traveled toward Switzerland.

"Heading to Geneva. The next round of negotiations is ahead. On the way, we will discuss the lessons of our history with our colleagues and look for the right conclusions. Ukraine's interests must be protected," Budanov wrote in his social media post.

The upcoming session marks the third installment of trilateral security consultations involving Russia, Ukraine, and the US in 2026. Initial talks convened January 23-24 in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates capital, with Moscow's negotiating team commanded by Igor Kostyukov, chief of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

A follow-up round transpired February 4-5 at the identical UAE venue, sustaining diplomatic momentum.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov disclosed last week that the forthcoming negotiation session would maintain the trilateral Russian-American-Ukrainian framework, confirming the February 17-18 timeline in Geneva, Switzerland.

The talks represent a critical juncture as warring parties pursue potential pathways toward conflict resolution.
