KNDS and NCMS sign a major framework agreement for the local production of complete 155mm artillery rounds on the occasion of WDS 2026

Riyadh, 12 February – KNDS France and NCMS signed today a framework agreement for the transfer of production of complete artillery rounds. Drawing on its munitions expertise, as well as extensive experience in the production of complete artillery rounds, KNDS France has partnered with NCMS (National Company for Mechanical Systems), a major player in the manufacturing and production of cutting-edge systems serving defense. This framework agreement thus enables the Saudi forces to benefit from the expertise of KNDS in artillery munitions, combat-proven across multiple theaters of operations, and having demonstrated their effectiveness under all operational conditions.

Building on its mastery in this field, KNDS will ensure the transfer of the know-how required for the manufacture of complete rounds, adapting them to the industrial capabilities already existing within NCMS. As KNDS is fully involved in efforts to localize the production of artillery munitions, the scope of this framework agreement may be expanded according to the needs of the Saudi forces towards tank and mortar munitions. This transfer will be carried out incrementally, and followed by long-term support from KNDS in order to ensure optimal quality of the finished products.

This agreement is expected to lead to tangible results in the short term in terms of explosive filling of 155mm “Long range” shells, modular charges and artillery fuzes. In the longer term, the localization rate for certain products may reach more than 90% of their value.
