Mark Lawrence
- Professor of Public Health Nutrition, Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition, Deakin University
Mark is a Professor of Ecological Nutrition at Deakin University. He has over 40 years' experience working as an academic and practitioner in food and nutrition policy and regulation at local, state, national and international levels.
Mark's research interests focus on investigating the science and politics of evidence use in nutrition policy-making, particularly in relation to healthy and sustainable food systems and diets, and ultra-processed foods. He is:
- Chair of the International Union of Nutritional Sciences Task Force on Ultra-processed foods
- A member of the WHO Guideline development group on Optimal intake of animal source foods
- Lead, NHMRC Tender on Ultra-processed foods and sustainability
- Previous Member, FSANZ Board (2017 – 2025)
- 2007–present Associate Professor (Public health nutrition), Deakin University
- 2002 Deakin University, PhD
