Netanyahu Holds Pre-Trump Meetings with US Officials on Iran
(MENAFN) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with senior US officials on Tuesday to discuss Iran ahead of scheduled talks with President Donald Trump.
Netanyahu held discussions with special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and informal adviser, focusing on ongoing negotiations with Tehran following last week’s talks in Oman, according to reports.
The meeting reportedly took place at Blair House, the US president’s official guest residence, shortly after Netanyahu arrived in Washington for his sixth official visit since Trump returned to office last year.
Trump and Netanyahu are expected to discuss the next round of nuclear negotiations with Iran at the White House on Wednesday, following the first round held in Muscat. These talks resumed after nearly eight months of suspension triggered by US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in June.
Tensions remain high between Washington and Tehran, fueled by a US military buildup in the Persian Gulf and repeated threats of military action from the Trump administration.
