Report Warns Trump’s “Bulldozer Politics” Is Destabilizing Global System
(MENAFN) A recent security report warns that US President Donald Trump’s “bulldozer” approach to foreign policy is destabilizing the international system and creating conditions for a world dominated by wealthy powers and regional hegemons. The document cautions that his style of governance is threatening the post-World War II order and fueling concern among European leaders.
“The world has entered a period of wrecking-ball politics. More than 80 years after construction began, the US-led postwar international order is now under destruction,” the report said, highlighting the global impact of Washington’s current agenda.
The report’s cover features an elephant, symbolizing the Trump administration as “the elephant in the room” in world affairs. It argues that Washington’s disruptive policies, including disregard for international law and attempts to dismantle existing rules and institutions, could profoundly affect conflicts and crises worldwide.
“The Trumpian illiberal-nationalist challenge to the international order is not merely a matter of policy adjustment or tactical divergence,” the authors said, stressing that the administration views the post-1945 system as outdated and is actively seeking to dismantle it. The report warns that this approach could have far-reaching consequences for global peace.
“The US under Trump disregards some of the most basic norms of the post-1945 system: territorial integrity and the prohibition of the threat or use of force against other states,” it said, citing examples such as the administration’s interest in acquiring Greenland and military actions in Iraq, Iran, Nigeria, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen during Trump’s first year in office. “If the leading state fails to abide by the underlying principle of the international legal system it once championed, the already ailing system faces total collapse,” the report cautioned.
