Pakistan Army Says Over 200 Militants Killed in Balochistan Offensive
(MENAFN) Pakistan’s military announced on Thursday that it eliminated more than 200 alleged insurgents during a six-day security campaign spanning the southwestern province of Balochistan, noting that order had largely been restored after a wave of lethal assaults last week.
Military officials said the campaign was launched in response to coordinated militant strikes carried out at 12 separate sites across the province on Saturday.
Responsibility for those assaults was claimed by the Balochistan Liberation Army, an armed separatist organization active in the region.
According to an official release issued by the army’s media department, security forces killed 216 suspected fighters during the operation. The violence also resulted in the deaths of 68 other individuals, among them 22 members of law enforcement agencies, during armed confrontations.
“Security forces have successfully concluded Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-1 in Balochistan under which a series of coordinated, swift, and intelligence-driven operations were conducted against Indian-sponsored terrorist elements seeking to disrupt peace and development by targeting innocent civilians, including women and children,” the statement read.
The military further reported the seizure of “a substantial cache of foreign-origin weapons, ammunition, explosives, and equipment,” following the conclusion of the operation.
“Preliminary analysis indicates systematic external facilitation and logistical support to these extremist proxies.”
The armed forces reaffirmed their commitment to fight militancy “in all its forms and manifestations,” stressing that anti-terror efforts would persist with “full determination until the complete elimination of terrorist threats.”
