Maria C. Scott
- Associate Professor of French Literature and Thought, University of Exeter
My research focuses on French literature, especially nineteenth-century novels and prose poetry. I am particularly interested in how reading literature activates (and deactivates) our empathy. My most recent book is Empathy and the Strangeness of Fiction: Readings in French Realism (Edinburgh University Press, 2020).
