Who Controls The Global Narrative? Global Southing Podcast Puts The Global South In The Spotlight

Global Southing, the first ever podcast dedicated to spotlighting the voices, ideas, and innovations emerging across the Global South, has launched today. The podcast delves into the voices, ideas and innovations shaping the region today, not as a peripheral force but as a driver of global change.

The series brings together policymakers, cultural figures, academics, entrepreneurs, and media thinkers from the region to explore who shapes global narratives and whose voices are still marginalised.

Each episode blends sharp analysis with lived experience, giving listeners a front-row view of how media, power, and culture intersect. Guests move beyond headlines to share the real-world decisions, pressures, and creative choices shaping their work, from newsrooms and studios to policy tables and cultural movements.

The inaugural season features a diverse lineup of expert voices spanning policy, technology, media, education, and culture, reflecting the breadth of influence shaping the Global South today. Guests include:

• Dr Serhat Suha Cubukcuoglu, Head of the TRENDS Türkiye Office, on emerging policy;
• Anima Anandkumar, TIME100 Impact Award Winner & Caltech Professor, on the role of AI and Science in the development of the Global South;
• E. Mr Gregoire Ndjaka, CEO of the African Union of Broadcasting, on Africa's positioning within multilateral systems, and;
• Hind Khlaifat, General Manager of Deraya Speakers, examining how Global South media is reclaiming narrative power and cultural space.

Across the season, episodes tackle critical themes ranging from smart agriculture and digital transformation to cultural soft power, animation production, public service media, and skills development, with contributions from leading voices across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and even small island states.
