Zelenskyy Assigns Luhovskyi to Lead Foreign Intelligence Service

(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday appointed Oleh Luhovskyi as the acting chief of the Foreign Intelligence Service (FIS) of Ukraine.

Luhovskyi has held senior roles within the agency since 2024 and was part of the Ukrainian delegation during talks with Russia in Istanbul in May 2025.

The Foreign Intelligence Service was previously led by Oleh Ivashchenko, who had served as head since March 2024. Luhovskyi was first deputy head of the FIS under Ivashchenko starting in May 2024.

Earlier this year, on January 2, Zelenskyy named Ivashchenko as the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR). In that position, Ivashchenko replaced Kyrylo Budanov, who became head of the Presidential Office after Andriy Yermak resigned amid a corruption scandal.
