President Urges Unity And Resolve To Rebuild Sri Lanka
In his Independence Day message, the President noted that despite significant challenges, Sri Lanka has made tangible economic progress over the past eighteen months and is steadily regaining stability. He said collective effort and resolve have helped restore the country's standing internationally as a nation guided by integrity, principled governance, and a renewed political culture.
The President emphasized that the next key priority is ensuring that macroeconomic gains benefit communities of all ethnicities across every province, stating that inclusive development is essential to sustaining the country's new growth trajectory.
Referring to the recent major natural disaster, he acknowledged the hardship it caused but said strong foundations built during the past eighteen months, along with support from all stakeholders, have enabled the country to move forward with recovery and restoration.
Reflecting on missed opportunities since independence, President Dissanayake stressed that the nation is determined not to repeat past mistakes. He reaffirmed his commitment to building a more resilient, advanced, and dignified state while safeguarding Sri Lanka's culture, history, and heritage.
Concluding his message, the President expressed confidence in the collective strength of the people and invited all citizens to join hands to realize the shared vision of“A Thriving Nation – A Beautiful Life,” extending warm wishes for a meaningful Independence Day.
